Customer Equipment Technician - Water

Are you an experienced water technician looking for your next challenge?

Our Three Waters team is looking for two Customer Equipment Technicians. It is an exciting time in our Three Waters team as we plan and develop our resilience and capability for the future, which will have far reaching and positive impacts on our community.

In this permanent, full time role, you will be responsible for :

  • Operation and maintenance of water customer equipment
  • Ensuring that Council comply with legislation by inspecting, testing and servicing of backflow preventers
  • Reading water meters and replacing faulty meters
  • Provide flow and pressure audit data by doing testing at water supply manifolds
  • Generate work orders, maintain records and supply reports
  • Be able to respond on-site to call outs when on duty within Council’s committed timeframes.
  • The successful candidate will have one of the following; Level 3 qualification in relevant discipline e.g. Infrastructure Works (Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) or similar or studying towards this qualification.

    You will also need computer literacy, Class 1 Driver’s licence, and Backflow Testers Certificate. Having Traffic Management Level One TC would be an advantage.

    POSITION :

    Customer Equipment Technician

    JOB LEVEL : Technical Specialist

    REPORTS TO :

    Water Reticulation Coordinator

    GROUP : Infrastructure

    POSITION PURPOSE :

    Operation and maintenance of water customer equipment

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS

  • Integrated - ReticulationEngineering Officer (Water); Network and Customer Lead
  • External Suppliers; Customers
  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.
  • Ensure that Council comply with legislation by inspecting, testing and servicing (when required) of backflow preventers.
  • Inspecting restrictors and verifying that the correct size restrictor has been installed.
  • Reading water meters and replacing faulty meters.
  • Provide flow and pressure audit data by doing testing at water supply manifolds.
  • Generate work orders, maintain records and supply reports as required by electronic means.
  • Be able to respond on-site to call outs when on duty within Council’s committed timeframes.
  • Provide cover for other members of the reticulation team.

  • QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE :

  • Level 3 qualification in relevant discipline (e.g. Infrastructure Works - Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) or similar or studying towards this qualification.
  • Backflow Testers Certificate
  • Full Class 1 Driver’s Licence.
  • Computer literate and able to maintain electronic records.
  • Blue Card holder (assessment provided)
  • Traffic Management Level One TC (STMS preferred).
