We have an opportunity for a Livestock Representative (or Trainee) to join the Carrfields team based in the Timaru area. Reporting to the Canterbury Livestock Manager and South Island Livestock Manager your key responsibilities will be :

  • Build and maintain strong existing and new relationships with farmers and assist with their on-farm sales where applicable
  • Advise farmers about market trends and stock prices
  • Buy and sell livestock on farm and at auctions on behalf of clients
  • Maintain and promote Carrfields livestock in the marketplace by delivering excellent service with integrity and professionalism
  • Travel throughout the wider region
  • Your Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of stock breeds, stock classes and stock health
  • An Agriculture or livestock based qualification would be an advantage
  • Excellent Animal handling skills
  • Well-developed customer service and sales skills
  • The ability to build rapport with a range of people easily
  • Excellent communication and record keeping skills
  • The ability to work independently and within a team
  • A full, current, and clean New Zealand driver licence
  • Auctioneering experience would be an advantage
  • Applicants looking to enter the livestock industry will be considered. Trainee’s will be mentored by a Senior Representative to gain knowledge of the livestock industry for the first two years.

    This is a salaried position, and you will be supplied with a vehicle and a mobile phone. You must be eligible to live and work in New Zealand to be considered for this position.
