Use your extensive expertise to manage the maintenance and support a growing manufacturing site at Upper Hutt

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Manager is to lead the engineering routine maintenance and equipment / facility breakdown service to maximize plant output while ensuring best overall cost, customer satisfaction, safety and regulatory compliance for the company’s Animal Health New Zealand manufacturing business.

Of critical importance to the successful execution of this role is :

Maximising plant uptime

Maintaining services for the site

Developing and strengthening the maintenance team

Developing a strong safety culture within the maintenance team and supporting site safety culture

Participating as a key stakeholder in site expansion works

Strong collaboration with site Production, Quality, Capital Projects, Health + Safety and Technical Support managers

Providing advice and technical support to Manufacturing + Engineering Manager

Developing and streamlining maintenance documentation practices in accordance with GMP requirements


Deliver all engineering preventive maintenance

Deliver site services support

Provide leadership for direct reports

Operate within the engineering cost centre budget

Ensure regulatory compliance and a focus on quality processes

Support capital projects

Maintain documentation and PV responsibilities

Ensure all hazards and environmental aspects within maintenance responsibility are identified, documented, assessed and controlled in accordance with Health + Safety procedures.



Advanced trade qualification in relevant discipline. Industrial measurement and control, electrical or mechanical preferred.

Bachelor of Engineering with electronic / Instrumentation focus is acceptable provided adequate field experience can be demonstrated.

Further qualifications, courses or diplomas related to electronic / instrument maintenance, environmental, health and safety, building services, process software and calibration are desirable.

In some cases, on the job training may prove satisfactory, depending on past industry experience.


Minimum 10 years post tertiary related experience in a related field

Experience with GMP, GLP or ISO 9000 in a production environment

Working knowledge of NZ electrical codes, Building Codes, NZ Health and Safety and RMA legislation

Previous managerial experience preferred
