About the Role

Our Health & Safety Advisor is a key member of our permanent crew working across Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Mt Hutt.

Critical to this role is promoting and driving best practice framework and continuing to improve our systems through your strong leadership and practical approach to Health & Safety, This is a hands-on Health & Safety role working alongside operational teams to support and advise them on identifying and minimising health and safety risks.

Other key duties include :

  • Working alongside operational teams to support and advise them on identifying and minimising health and safety risks
  • Encouraging worker engagement and participation in health and safety.
  • Encouraging crew to report incidents and working with managers to ensure all incidents are reported, investigated and corrective actions are in place where applicable.
  • Coordinating and maintaining our H&S management system including our Incident Management to ensure our teams to work safely, efficiently and most importantly get home safe each day.
  • Maintaining our incident reporting database and being the key point of contact to resolve incident reporting queries
  • Assisting managers with the investigation of incidents as required
  • Preparing weekly and monthly reports on health and safety performance
  • Analyse and present health and safety related data to assist in planning and performance measurement
  • Support GM to develop annual H&S strategy
  • Monitor health and safety processes to ensure compliance with the NZSki H&S system
  • Coordinate and organise staff H&S inductions and H&S training (internal and external)
  • Co-ordinate and minute capital project site toolbox meetings
  • Prepare and / or review health and safety and HSNO documentation as required
  • Assist in maintaining subcontractor documentation
  • Keep staff informed and engaged in workplace health and safety
  • Attend and support H&S committee meetings
  • Promote continuous improvements in the use of health and safety systems and tools
  • Co-ordinate and assist with the annual review of H&S policies, plans, procedures and hazard registers and keep relevant portals updated with the latest H&S documentation
  • Look for ways to reduce duplication of efforts across health and safety systems
  • Proactively research best practice or new industry methods or processes and apply to situations where applicable
  • Undertake other duties as directed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Support and assist GM, Group H&S Manager and Group Health and Safety Advisors as required
  • About You

    This role would be ideal for an intermediate level generalist looking to step up or a seasoned advisor looking for a new challenge and wanting to truly make an impact on a business and our crew.

    We are looking for someone who :

  • Is an excellent communicator at all levels
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Health and Safety is preferred but not essential
  • Working knowledge of the HSWA Act and HSNO Act
  • Registered Health and Safety Professional is preferred
  • Exposure to high risk health and safety activities across multiple sites
  • Experience or knowledge of trades, maintenance, or construction
  • Experience and / or passion for the outdoor recreation or snowsports industry is essential
  • Can work independently, self-motivated
  • Proficient with MS Office products
  • Can work across multiple locations and use resources in a collaborative way to drive best practice
  • Can relate to wide range of people and can maintain good working relationships at all levels
  • Confident working in a supportive capacity to influence line managers to improve H&S outcomes
