Scope of Practice : Occupational Therapy)

MidCentral District Health Board has a vacancy for a New Zealand registered occupational therapist, primarily working in our Older Peoples Assessment & Liaison Service (OPAL), and based within the Occupational Therapy Team at Palmerston North Hospital.

This position is 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday (negotiable). This position is temporary to cover parental leave and is expected to conclude on 15 October 2021.

Responsibilities are primarily working with older people with frailty and will include follow up in the community. This position would suit occupational therapists with a minimum of two years’ post graduate experience.

There may be circumstances in which you will need to work in other areas of Occupational Therapy including the acute wards or rehabilitation or community based services.

If you are a NZ Registered Occupational Therapist holding a current annual practicing certificate and have relevant experience in this field with a particular interest in working in this setting, then please apply.

General Information

MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000.

In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures.

Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
