He angitūtanga About the role

The Senior Wild Animals Programme Advisor sits within the Wild Animals Team, which forms part of the wider Operations Group.

Our team is dispersed nationally and are responsible for oversight of the Department's Wild Animal Management operations and delivery of some specific management programmes such as for Himalayan Tahr.

The team works closely with key Iwi partners and stakeholders at a district level to support the delivery of our national programmes, while also engaging with stakeholders at a national level (e.

g. hunting and conservation sector organisations).

In this role you will work closely with the Wild Animal Leads, providing oversight and management of all national level programme monitoring, scheduling, and development of programme reports to inform our work programme's success.

If you have the following skills and experience, we are keen to hear from you :

  • Track record of maintaining reporting, systems, and processes in a programme environment
  • Experience designing new reporting tools
  • Strong visual presentation skills
  • Experienced monitoring and developing analytical reportsExperience of drafting complex and sensitive work, responding to Ministerial requests and Parliamentary questions (desirable)
  • An understanding of, or background in, wild animal and / or conservation management (desirable)
  • Effective communicator both written and verbal
  • Strong team player

    The position requires a confident, resilient, and skilled communicator, who is comfortable working across a broad range of stakeholders.

    You will work alongside others to ensure programme reporting and document management is consistent and timely to support operational planning and strategic initiatives.

    You will also have an intuitive risk radar and use it to full effect to identify and escalate programme risks and develop mitigating strategies to support the right outcomes.
