The International Marketing and Recruitment Team is responsible for the recruitment of international students, enhancing the brand profile internationally and identifying and maximising international business development opportunities for the University of Otago, including the University of Otago Language Centre and Foundation Year.

Otago has a Dental Facility and University of Otago Centre located in Auckland and a campus in Invercargill.

The role

As a Regional Market Manager, you will report to the Manager, International Marketing and Recruitment and oversee the international marketing and student recruitment activities within specific markets or regions.

Other responsibilities include :

  • Promoting and marketing the University internationally and fostering relationships with overseas education agents, government and non-government agencies and institutional partners, to maximise the recruitment of high quality international students.
  • Identifying and maximising opportunities to enhance the reputation of the University internationally, including business development opportunities.
  • Actively participating in the marketing planning process, and contributing to the development of innovative, creative marketing and promotion materials - particularly in online formats.
  • Although 2020 has resulted in a significant disruption to the international education industry, interest in studying at the University of Otago has never been higher.

    This position is an opportunity to be part of the team that will be instrumental in rebuilding our international student cohort.

    Your skills and experience

    You will have an appropriate tertiary qualification and an advanced understanding of the requirements of effective marketing, preferably within the international higher educational context.

    Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff and stakeholders internally, externally and internationally is a must, as is the ability to travel overseas when conditions permit.

    To be successful in this position you will also need to have :

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to understand the needs of both internal and external stakeholders and deliver high quality customer service.
  • Business acumen and excellent diplomacy skills.
  • Outstanding marketing, presentation and sales skills.
  • The ability to take initiative and operate effectively, efficiently and independently.
  • An enthusiastic team player, always willing to support others, collaborate and share expertise.
  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn the broad range of education offerings at Otago.
  • Ability and willingness to learn multiple policies and regulations across different countries and organisations.
  • A strong sense of personal resilience and the ability to manage a wide range of assignments and deadlines with confidence.
  • Ability and flexibility to work outside of normal business hours to accommodate international time zones.
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing market conditions for international higher education.
  • Fluency in one or more other languages is desirable.

    This is a full-time, permanent position.

    We offer 5 weeks' annual leave, a 6.75% superannuation scheme and the opportunity to work in the exciting and fast-paced international higher education sector.
