    In addition we are turning our attention to how we can best carry this legacy forward as we look to reshape the our national health system.

    The Ministry of Health is the lead Public Health agency on the national COVID-19 response and has established the COVID-19 Health System Response Directorate to provide oversight of all activities contributing to the Ministry's COVID-19 response.

    The purpose of the Planning and Advisory group is to shape and drive the delivery of the COVID-19 Strategy for the directorate and the Ministry.

    Working across the Directorate, the Planning and Advisory group will support the implementation of the COVID-19 Strategy, by acting as a think tank for problem solving challenging and complex issues.

    The group will provide strategic advice to the Deputy Chief Executive and the Ministry's Executive Leadership Team.

    The Senior Advisor will use their analytical and insights skills to contribute to the development and delivery of quality advice to improve key aspects of health outcomes for the COVID-19 Directorate.

    You will lead select project and programme development tasks as requested by the Group Manager Planning and Advisory.

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and / or equivalent experience
  • Sound analytical and advisory skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to make connections between various aspects of a piece of work and wider implications for stakeholders and decision makers
  • Experience in influencing people and supporting successful delivery of work programmes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships and relate to a wide range of people
  • The ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings, documentation and styles
  • The ability to achieve results in a fast-paced environment, often operating with high levels of ambiguity
  • Knowledge of the machinery of Government would be an advantage
  • A commitment to ensuring your work reflects our responsibilities to the priority of equity and meeting Treaty of Waitangi obligations
