We are looking for a Transport Engineer to join our team and make a real contribution to Wellington's transport network.

Our Transport team is a group of passionate people working to improve the lives of Wellingtonians. By strategically enhancing Wellington's road network, the team's goal is to improve road user safety, promote sustainable transport, increase travel efficiency, and improve access for all road users.

In this role, you will be responsible for the timely delivery of the Minor Works Programme with the support of the team and assist with the delivery of engineering services across a range of areas.

You will be an excellent collaborator and a strong communicator who can work across multiple units on transport related matters to reach a shared outcome that contributes to an efficient transport network.

The role will require you to collaborate with teams internally and externally to Wellington City Council, with an emphasis on providing excellent customer service to our stakeholders.

This will entail effective communication and consultation with communities and vested stakeholders related to transport engineering schemes.

This is such a great opportunity to experience some really challenging and exciting projects and to lead them when required.

We're looking for you to have a few year's transport engineering experience behind you - and expertise in some or all of :

  • Road Safety Improvements
  • Parking Management
  • Capacity Improvements
  • The developments of work processes to enhance these services
  • You'll be a team player who can confidently take on projects and contracts with limited supervision. You'll have an understanding and working knowledge of transport related standards and guidelines (MOTSAM, TCD, Pedestrians planning and design guide etc).

    We need someone who can put on a customer lens behind every decision and outcome that is made. You will also have a tertiary engineering qualification.
