Autonomous role with clear development pathway

Opportunity for influential impact across ANZ

Great benefits and based in the sunny Hawke's Bay!

Are you looking for a move to one of NZ’s loveliest regions? Lead the HSE and Training strategy for this renowned global business here in NZ.

A bit about the Company

Our Australia and NZ based client specialises in precision food packaging, and we now have a brilliant opportunity to join the team as Health & Safety Manager, based in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay.

A bit about the Role

Reporting to the General Manager NZ, this role will see you responsible for the provision of day-to-day health and safety management for the business.

We are seeking an H&S professional who can provide oversight of all HSE management programmes, systems and plans, and coordinate HSE initiatives whilst driving a safety culture throughout the business.

This busy and varied position will allow the successful candidate to work to a senior level in a blue-collar manufacturing setting and is critical in not only ensuring a safe workplace and driving the best safety behaviours at a site level, but one that also drives employees within their own ongoing development and training on HSE and continual focus and integration into their daily work tasks, whilst helping to shape the broader HSE structure and culture within the business across New Zealand.

Some of the key responsibilities will include :

Responsibility for the provision of ongoing HSE support, training reporting and systems maintenance including HSE management programmes, systems and plans that are compliant with HSE legislation and standards

Coordination, communication, consultation and advice to the business across regular reporting and engagement

Acting as the knowledge expert on HSE legislation, industry trends and changes, and enacting new initiatives to stay abreast as a business.

Own reporting, investigation, assessment and audit initiatives to ensure the business is appropriately resourced to manage hazards, site incidents and accidents, and ensure follow through of root cause analysis and corrective action.

Identify the HSE training needs of the business and develop and coordinate plans to meet these.

A bit about you

You’ll be experienced in HSE advisor or management level roles, and hold an appropriate qualification in health and safety or associated fields.

You’ll also be well versed in the current health and safety legislation and its application in a New Zealand manufacturing (or related) industry context.

You will be proficient in the MS suite, and a strong user of HSE systems with tangible experience in one or more H&S specific software (e.

g., VelocityEHS, HSEMS, SafetyHub etc.).

You’ll enjoy engaging with people at all levels of a business, and thrive on enabling people to educate themselves on key H&S principles.

You’ll naturally enjoy driving the right working behaviours whilst instilling a culture to drive effectiveness and engagement.

While some experience in a manufacturing setting is desirable, it is not critical.

What’s in it for you?

A clear pathway for the right person to develop into an ANZ leadership role over time.

An autonomous role, and clear scope to shape its direction in line with the business whilst being integral to the NZ team.

Company superannuation scheme equivalent up to 12.5% (incl. company and individual contribution)

Southern Cross medical cover for you and your immediate family

A very competitive salary commensurate with your skills and experience
