Do you want a PACU role that provides you the time and resources to give the level of care you've always wanted ? At MercyAscot we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our supportive team.

Our PACU team work across both Mercy and Ascot sites. We're looking for an RN with current acute skills for a 1.0 FTE role .

You'll work rostered 8 hr shifts covering 0730 - 2030, primarily across Mon-Fri, with occasional on-calls & weekends. Our surgical specialties at MercyAscot include : General, Ortho (incl spinal), Neuro, Uro, ORL (incl head and neck), Cardiac, Gynae, and Plastics.

As an RN in PACU you'll be recovering both adult and paediatric cases. Your acute care experience, will allow you to think on your feet, and make effective decisions.

You'll be confident in your practice, and demonstrate excellent assessment skills based on your acute surgical knowledge, and this knowledge and experience will ensure that you always advocate for your patients to ensure optimal outcomes.

You will also have :

  • A minimum of (1-2) years recent clinical experience in a PACU / ICU / HDU (adult and / or paediatric)
  • Experience recovering the unconscious patient and managing airway
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate with Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Great communication skills and the ability to cope with a busy and ever changing environment
  • A positive, proactive and flexible attitude
  • Ideally be certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS level 6) and / or certified in paediatric advanced life support (PALS), however the opportunity to obtain certification can be arranged for the right candidate.
