About the roleThe Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager is a crucial member of the GrainCorp NZ Foods, Feeds and Liquid Terminals leadership teams.
Based from our East Tamaki AKL food manufacturing facility and reporting to the SHE Operations Manager in Melbourne AUS, the role will take the lead across all safety, health and environment matters for these businesses.
You’ll implement business- and group-level SHE strategies and programs, developing targeted initiatives for your portfolio that lead to continuous and sustainable improvements in SHE performance.
Specifically, you will : Coach and mentor staff to develop a sustainable safety, health and environment cultureConduct operational risk assessments, identify and implement suitable controls for the workplaceConduct incident investigations and root cause analysis (incident, near miss, observations) and implement corrective actionsDevelop continuous improvement programs and strategies across the health / safety / environment spectrumEnsure operational teams are assisted in delivering on contracts, standards, systems, processes, and critical controlsCollate and support periodic reporting against HSE metrics working with our SHE Reporting SpecialistCoach operational staff to business safety standards and procedures to up skill the teamLead and mentor operational teams, safety committee teams and other stakeholdersEngage with stakeholders and project manage local HSE initiativesSupport the implementation and maintenance of external SHE certificationsProvide professional advice to management to assist with SHE communication and reporting to employees and external parties such as customers, contractors and authorities.
The role requires regular travel to sites (roughly 1-2 sites / month) across NZ, with a larger concentration of sites on the North Island.
A tool-of-trade motor vehicle, mobile, laptop and competitive base salary is on offer for this role.About your experienceOur ideal candidate holds a relevant qualification in OH&S or environment, complemented by sound experience in an autonomous safety partnering capacity within a similar business environment (such as supply chain or manufacturing).
You'll have a well-developed, practical understanding of SHE management, including management systems, risk assessment, accident / incident investigation and behavioural-
based safety and safety leadership. You should have a clean and current driver’s licence.Finally, and most importantly, you will have outstanding communication, influencing, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
