Your Role :

As Regional Network Capacity Planner you will be responsible for network supply and capacity planning across a 3 to 36-month planning timeframe for the operational region that you support.

This will include planning for network utilisation across the following perspectives :

  • Train Plan
  • Planned Network Maintenance activities
  • Planned Capital Programmes
  • 3rd Party Operator Requirements
  • Key to this role will be ensuring that the capacity plan for the region delivers the best outcome for the business and a safe network by prioritising access for maintenance and capital work, against the requirements of the train plan and 3rd party operators.

    Stakeholder engagement is key to this role. The Regional Capacity Planner will need to manage customer expectations, lead regional stakeholder communication and negotiation between operators and maintenance providers, and requires an understanding of service agreements between operators.

    It's expected for successful candidate to be willing to learn new skills as part of meeting the job requirements; this might include Rail Operating Rules, Codes and Procedures, KiwiRail applications, train scheduling and modelling etc

    Health and Safety is critical to the success of KiwiRail and ensuring that every staff member and contractor returns home in the state that they arrived.

    Planning and technical assurance are critical factors in the safe delivery of customer services. You will be a safety leader and will be expected to "walk the safety talk" and support the Planning team to be a centre of excellence for safety.

    Your Skills :

  • 5+ years' experience in a mid-level planning role ideally in the infrastructure or logistics industry. Planning experience within the Rail industry advantageous
  • Strong relationship and communication skills, with demonstrated ability of building relationships, influencing collaboratively and engaging with leaders and stakeholders to enable the delivery of effective outcomes.
  • Ability to demonstrate a flexible and creative approach to problem solving, good judgment and a proactive, positive "can do" attitude.
  • Ability achieve work programmes, meet deadlines, and manage conflicting requirements in a dynamic work environment.
