Goodwood Park Healthcare is a progressive rehabilitation-based organisation and a leading provider of support services for people who have a mental health illness or suffer the effects of a serious injury such as traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, or in some cases, a dual diagnosis.

Our Supported Living Service plays an integral role supporting people to maintain and increase their independence, regain old and develop new skills, integrate into the community and improve their quality of life.

Our contract is with ACC so 90% of our clients are suffering the after effects of a serious injury.

We currently have a casual / part-time opportunity for an experienced support worker with the following skills and knowledge :

  • Minimum of two years experience working in the disability field, preferably within the community;
  • Minimum of a level 4 NZ qualification in the health / disability field
  • Experience working with young Maori males
  • Computer literate and skilled in the use of Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of local communities and community resources.
  • This is a Community-based role and travel across the Auckland region is required with use of a commute vehicle, therefore a full, clean driver licence is required.

    The main focus of our supported living programme is to promote independence, key tasks for a support worker is to encourage and support clients to :

  • Increase their independence in daily life
  • Identify and seek assistance from natural circles of support
  • Increase their community engagement and participation
  • Live in the environment of their choice with appropriate support.
  • Goodwood Park Healthcare has a full staff training program, and successful applicants will be supported to access further training and career opportunities.

    The position is primarily working within normal business hours, but very occasionally there are specific client needs that can only be met with weekend or early evening support.
