  • An exciting chance to join a team of people passionate about inspiring Happy, Healthy and Confident young minds
  • Permanent, part time (24 hour a week) position at our Favona and Papatoetoe Kindergartens
  • Work in a collaborative and supportive team environment
  • The Organisation

Auckland Kindergarten Association is a not-for profit organisation, which has a long history in New Zealand in the Early Childhood Education sector, having been established in 1908 with the opening of our kindergarten at Freemans Bay.

We now have 107 kindergartens and four KiNZ centres, supported by our shared services staff at our office in Queen Street, forming our organisation, with a total of just under 1000 staff.

Ours is a bicultural environment, where the learning framework of Te Whāriki underpins all we do, and where the good of our tamariki (children) and their whānau (family) sits at the very heart of our organisation.

At AKA, we provide a safe and enriching early childhood learning environment where children can develop as confident and competent learners.

Our kindergartens offer quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) that is inclusive of the diversity of children, parents and whānau that attend.

Our Auckland-wide network of kindergartens are magical places where young Aucklanders get the very best start to prepare for school and beyond - building the foundations for a lifetime of learning.

    The kindergartens

Favona Kindergarten prides itself on its strong, established links to the local Mangere community, school and marae. Everyone is welcome, and the teaching team focus on nurturing good relationships with our kindergarten parents and whānau (family).

Favona Kindergarten has received an excellent report from the Education Review Office (ERO). Favona Kindergarten's kaiako (teachers) encourage tamariki (children) to develop independence and provide challenging learning opportunities and environments that encourage risk-taking, leadership and mentoring skills.

Our culturally diverse and inclusive kindergarten in Papatoetoe encourages social interaction in a multicultural environment to provide a foundation of respect, uniqueness and community.

Creative and innovative teaching is key in our kindergarten, and we endeavour to provide a top quality early childhood education in Papatoetoe.

Part of that is our learning environment - and a great feature of our kindergarten is the exceptionally large outdoor area which provides opportunities for the children to explore all areas of the curriculum in new and different ways.

Our kindergarten offers so much more than just Papatoetoe childcare - it is a community-based centre of learning, helping to produce well-rounded Kiwi kids High quality learning environments and innovative teaching also set us apart from other Papatoetoe daycare options.

Being a kindergarten, we are part of a long-standing tradition of teaching little ones and preparing them for life.
