About the opportunity

As our Network Solution Designer based in either Wellington or Hamilton you will be part of our DEVOPS team, accountable for solution design throughout the development, delivery and lifecycle stages and ensuring operability by actively engaging with various operational delivery teams.

You'll have a specific focus on providing technical leadership to deliver IT solutions which address business problems and take a lead on problem investigation and fault-finding in support of the operations teams.

You will design fit for purpose information and technology solutions to be acquired or custom-built to meet business requirements and operated to agreed service levels.

Your focus will be to ensure the optimal business value for the technology investment.

While you will have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions as part of your role, you will also have a firm understanding that due to the nature of our business we require a level of stability.

As a result, your work will have a positive impact on the business by introducing new capabilities for users, balancing delivery with quality, being an advocate for continuous improvement and the standardising of our designs.

About you

This is a senior technical role that requires an excellent understanding of all aspects of ICT service design, delivery and operations and exceptional communication (written and verbal) at all levels.

To be considered, your CV and covering letter will demonstrate :

  • CCDA or CCDP - Cisco Certified Design Associate / Professional (essential)
  • Extensive design knowledge of network services. It is expected that these are based on in-depth technical background
  • At least 5 years' experience in systems design and development
  • Experience of managing suppliers to produce high quality design and implementations
  • Understanding of the concepts of DEVOPS and the need to design for operations
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
  • Most importantly, you're passionate about delivery and quality and have a desire to learn and share your knowledge with others.
