We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for a General Manager to join our team. This role will be report to the Clinical Director.

Our Surgical team provide expert multidisciplinary inpatient and outpatient care for the community, the greater Auckland region and nationally for some specific services.

Specialties provided include Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Audiology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, and the National Burn Service.

Your leadership in our General Manager role will be key to managing critical situations like Whakaari White Island natural disater and the worldwide Covid pandemic making a visible impact and supporting our communities.

The General Manager will be accountable for delivering sustainable results on matters delegated by the Clinical Director.

  • There will be demands to deliver a wide range of complex services in a timely way within financial and other resource constraints so experience of managing complex organisations is essential.

    To be suitable for this role a background in health is not essential but you will ideally have :

  • Experience in delivering effective services as a senior manager in a large, multifaceted environment including staff management, financial management and change management.
  • Strong People Leadership Skills driving accountability and engagement of the Surgical Services team
  • Ability to retain our talent and drive agility within Surgical Services during a period of change under Health NZ
  • Experience in delivering sustainable system, process and performance improvement
  • An ability to provide strategic direction to the team.
  • Experience leading services in an environmental of fiscal constraint, cost recovery and revenue maximisation
  • Experience growing a diverse workforce, especially Maaori and Pacific, and improving cultural responsiveness of services
