What you will do

You will be joining a small supportive team who work well together, combining their wealth of Naval knowledge and experience.

The Combat Systems Analyst conducts analysis of the performance of all above water Warfare Sensors, Support Systems, and Combat Systems.

You will measure and maintain standards for operational outputs, monitor performance trends and propose improvements to systems and operating procedures.

You will also monitor and manage fleet unit’s equipment and capabilities.

What we need

A key part of this role is being able to immerse yourself in the business of trials and analysis. You will keep up with current performance measuring practices, identifying where and what trials the OPTAU should be involved in.

We require someone confident in their interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate across a diverse and wide range of people.

You will have proven trials and analysis experience, ideally in gathering, analysing and presenting data in either a military or civilian environment such as research and development.

Knowledge of Naval Combat systems requirements and specifications, including specific New Zealand and Navy fleet requirements, would be advantageous.

Key skills required :

  • Ability to operate operational evaluation equipment;
  • Ability to analyse system condition reports;
  • Effective time management;
  • Sound analytical and report writing skills;
  • Good documentation and record keeping skills;
  • Proactive approach to problem solving;
  • Accurate analysis and attention to detail; and
  • An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

    The Operational Performance Trials and Analysis Unit (OPTAU) conducts Operational Performance Trials in order to support, monitor and report on fleet preparedness and operational assurance of RNZN capabilities and combat systems.
