Auckland Transport (AT) manages the Auckland transport system. Public transport (PT) is a critical and growing component, which forms one of our key tools to develop a safer, a more accessible and equitable, and a more sustainable transport system for Auckland.

At Metro Services we are seeking a Contract Manager- Rail for our Rail Services, Suppliers and Contractors.

Key responsibilities of this position include providing operational teams with contract interpretation advice, ensuring that contractual obligations are maintained and delivered by both AT and our rail service suppliers and contractors, and contractual outcomes are achieved as per contracts.

  • Joining a newly established Metro Contracts Department, you'll be joining an agile and committed team who lead the contract management of private sector providers and delivery to specified standards of all public transport services
  • Effective contract management of service providers and their performance against specified contract standards and requirements are key output;
  • and you'll be developing proactive partnering relationships with external and internal asset and service providers

  • A varied role, you'll be negotiating contract variations, supporting the Rail Franchise Team in agreeing service delivery management plans and making sure that invoices are good to pay
  • What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in public transport service delivery through service agreements with private sector service providers, or in service delivery in an operational environment
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial contract management / financial analysis
  • Development and management of relationships in a contractual environment
  • Demonstrates a disciplined approach to service performance management.
  • Establishes and utilises effective systems and processes to monitor performance. Identifies risks early and takes action to mitigate potential or actual negative consequences
  • Has a good understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office Applications
