The Business

ADInstruments provides innovative solutions to facilitate research and education for organisations operating within the life science sphere.

With a team of 60 in New Zealand and almost 200 globally, operating from 13 offices around the world and alongside an extensive global distribution network, we are a leader in our field.

Your Role

We’re excited to have the opportunity to add new people to our teams in Dunedin. We are looking for enthusiastic software engineers to join our Education and Research groups who can help us design, develop and maintain our cloud and desktop-based products.

Our team of developers are collaborative and curious and love working on new, innovative changes to our platforms. It’s a great time to join ADInstruments and contribute to a team of equally passionate people who love science, learning and creating a first-class product.

What’s in it for you

Working at ADI you will have the opportunity to work with driven, future-focused people across the globe. You will be part of a company that prides itself on global collaboration whilst maintaining its Dunedin foundations.

Based in the modern warehouse precinct you will have a number of great café options, an active social club, flexible working hours, and opportunities for personal development.

We are very proud of our employee culture and believe this is one of our strongest assets. As an added bonus we also have a commercial coffee machine so you can enjoy barista quality coffee whenever you desire.

Skills and Experience

We follow an Agile process in our teams, so you’ll feel comfortable and familiar in that environment. Technologies come and go, so you’ve most likely worked with a few in your career so far.

We’re excited to meet you and learn about your technical background, but more importantly, how you’ve communicated and shared that knowledge with others in your team.

We value strong communication skills and someone who collaborates well because that helps drive the whole team’s success.

Your ability to present ideas and refine them with input from your teammates will set you apart. Like us, you’ll take your work seriously, and you can bring that ethic into the team in a kind and considerate way.

We’re excited about you because you’ll bring :

  • A tertiary qualification in Computer Science or a related qualification
  • Experience developing applications on a recognised web framework like React, TypeScript, NodeJS or similar
  • Some background with either C++ or AWS
  • Familiarity with continuous integration / continuous delivery pipelines
  • Experience using design patterns such as MVVM / MVC / observables, etc.
  • Confidence in expressing your opinions, solving problems as part of a group, and a motivation to help people around you grow
  • A considerate, pragmatic and organised approach to your work
  • These skills aren’t a requirements checklist. If you have only some of the above but also bring something additional to our team, we’d love to talk!
