About the Role :

This is a very operational and commercial finance position, so candidates who prefer to be left alone with their spreadsheets should look away now.

This role will involve not only involve owning your numbers but also working with passionate and talented people at various levels of the organisation to drive forward the success of the business.

This role supports our Facilities Services Management Hospitality and Soft Services (H&SS) division for New Zealand, which sits within our Facilities Services division of Spotless and Downer NZ.

Reporting to the Head of Finance for Facilities Services, the key focus for this role is to provide financial support and commercial business partnering and strategic direction to the operational teams within our H&SS division.

If you like working closely with operations, then this role is for you. You will be leading a team based in Auckland and Christchurch.

Your key business partner will be the National Manager for Hospitality & Soft Services NZ

This is a diverse role where you will provide exposure across commercial, finance and operational issues across multiple contracts.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Providing quality financial and operational reports and business insights to various stakeholders within our Hospitality & Soft Services division;
  • Undertake ongoing process / system improvements to ensure a high level of reporting quality and reduce risk;
  • Responsible for all financial aspects for this division; e.g. Budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, month-end reporting, client reporting, accrual and WIP management etc.
  • Challenge business area management regarding commercial and financial outcome of plans and proposals to ensure in line with the financial constraints on the business;
  • Delivering finance training to operations staff to a high level
  • Skills and Experience :

    You will be a strong people leader with well-developed relationship management ability, good commercial acumen and will bring with you :

  • CA qualified (or studying towards it), with having 7 plus years’ commercial experience
  • Previous experience in an operations business partnering position and held commercial positions before
  • Previous experience in a Hospitality / Retail or similar industries is a key requirement
  • Several years' experience working in a multi-divisional / national company
  • Extensive ERP knowledge (preferably SAP) and experience to working within and across multi-functional teams from different parts of the business
  • Leadership and coaching skills with a coaching and empowering style.
  • Results oriented, committed to support the team to deliver on promises.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel data analysis, interrogation and ability to present data in an accurate succinct manner
