  • Senior Business Advisor DCE Office Policy - 4 Months Fixed Term About the Team Come and join our team in the DCE office to make a difference by supporting wide-ranging work on social policy including work on welfare system overhaul and income;
  • employment and housing support; children and youth; regional development; disability, seniors policy; and the social sector.

    Your experience in providing business management advice, performance reporting, planning and engagement to support the Policy Deputy Chief Executive (DCE), Senior Management Group (SMG) and wider Policy group is what we are looking for!     About the Role We have a 4 month fixed term contract to fill in our team and are seeking a motivated Senior Business Advisor to join us in the DCE Office that sits within the MSD Policy group.

  • The policy group has an exciting work programme and is currently working on a multi-year welfare system overhaul work programme;
  • minimum wage exemption; the expansion of employment services for non-beneficiaries; homelessness, emergency housing and accommodation supplement policies;
  • the independent monitoring of children's services; disability system transformation; a Better Later Life action plan and NZ Superannuation legislation;
  • the family violence / sexual violence joint venture programme; and the commissioning and purchasing of social services. There is a great vibe in the group, and you will have the opportunity to support this work by providing quality business management reporting, advice and support.

    You will also lead and input into key system wide projects that supports the delivery of seamless reporting and co-ordination of information across the Policy group.

    Your skills to analyse and visualise critical performance data and trends to support decision making is what we are looking for.

    What you will be doing You will be involved in a range of strategy and planning, performance assessment and reporting, and management support activities, including :

  • providing strategic and business management advice and support to the Policy DCE and SMG
  • making a Policy contribution to MSD strategy, planning, and accountability and other reporting processes
  • supporting Policy work programme management and development
  • providing strategic risk management and communications support
  • policy performance assessment and reporting, especially relating to the quality of policy advice, and policy capability and skills
  • contributing to the ongoing branch-wide development programme
  • managing and improving a wide range of business processes
