What we do

The Public Health Nursing Service (PHN) is acommunity service based at Burwood Hospital that supports childrentransitioning to school and school aged children and youth and theirfamilies / whānau.

Join us and work with the team that strives tobring services together into individualised plans for each child and theirfamily / whānau.

We are looking for an energetic, motivated and dedicatedRegistered Nurse to join our Public Health Nursing team to provide proficientquality care to children, youth and families / whānau in the community.

The Role : Whereyou fit in

Our Registered Nurses align with schools, have acase load of families from that community, as well as providing home visits tosupport children and families / whānau with their health concerns.

Additionalservices include Youth student health clinics, B4 School Checks supportingspecific General Practices, School based Vaccination programme, Vulnerablechildren work with Children’s Teams, Neonatal BCG vaccination clinics andassisting with community vaccination programmes as necessary.

We are looking for someone who is committed andpassionate to succeed in this role and who as a positive role model will workcollaboratively with the wider team to ensure high standards of care andimproved outcomes for our service users.

In turn we offer you the opportunity togrow, learn and develop your own skills in community based nursing. This role is based at the Burwood Campus.

Your skills will include :

  • Proven child, youth health and community experience is essential
  • Experience in the delivery of B4 School checks would be of benefit
  • Current Vaccination qualification would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals.
  • Experience and willingness to work with vulnerable families and children.
  • The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused.
