Job Description

    About the role

    Our team is the Business Strategy and Planning Team. We are a vibrant and high performing team that provides cross branch advice and support on a range of areas including :

  • Ensuring we are meeting our Treaty settlement, negotiation and implementation obligations
  • Promoting greater integration across existing team work programmes and responsibilities
  • Building branch capability, and maintaining a specific focus on strengthening the technical competency, organisational capacity, and culture required to fulfil our regulatory stewardship role
  • Coordinating and delivering all corporate, statutory and Ministerial performance measures.
  • While our Ministers are our primary clients, our success relies on close interactions inside and outside of MBIE. We work across the branch and the sector at a fast pace and take pride in the advice we provide and the outcomes we achieve.

    We are a supportive and experienced unit that is looking for people with enquiring minds to shape and deliver our high profile portfolio of work.

    Who we're looking for

    We are looking for a combination of the following skills and experience :

  • Communication - Verbal and written work is simple and concise, easily understood by a range of audiences
  • Analysis - Ability to review information and identify the key items of importance
  • Self-starter - Takes ownership of their work and its delivery.
  • Strategic thinking Contributes to a considered and planned approach to treaty settlement negotiations and implementation
  • Treaty Raise Treaty perspective on cross-branch complex issues / programmes of work
  • Relationship management - develop effective stakeholder relationships with senior leadership, officials, agencies and others
  • Māori perspective Understanding and appreciation of te Ao Māori
  • Education - Relevant tertiary qualification (economics, law, public policy, social science) or equivalent
