    Southern DHB has a great fixed-term opportunity for an Allied Health Assistant to join the Southern Community Orthopaedic Triage Service (SCOTS) until 22 / 12 / 2022.

    The SCOTs programme aims to provide timely equitable access to appropriate community-based care for people with knee osteoarthritis and / or identified shoulder conditions.

    This role provides an opportunity to enable members of our community to self-manage their conditions and improve quality of life for the cohort in our community which currently receives no intervention.

    About the opportunity

    Our Allied Health Assistants will be providing assistance to patients to reduce further deterioration of their condition and ensure suitability and fitness for surgery.

    Working under the delegation of the clinical lead, you will be assisting those with knee and shoulder issues. This role will see you completing a wide variety of tasks including some administrative activities : booking patients, follow up phone-calls, assisting with outcome measures and assisting with the education programme.

    About you

    Interacting with a diverse range of patients and staff, you will have a high level of interpersonal skills.

    In order to be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following :

  • Previous experience in rehabilitation and / or community-based care
  • Competence in administrative activities, including use of computer programmes
  • A positive and patient-focused approach, with a commitment to providing equitable outcomes
  • Ability to work in a supportive and honest manner
  • Ability to learn new skills and competencies
