As our Principal Portfolio Controls, you will provide specialist support across multiple portfolios, by working alongside programme and project managers to ensure best practices and quality reporting are applied across the lifecycle for all project and programme management activities of varying scales and complexities.
You will work closely with the Enterprise PMO, and Transport Services Controls Advisors, to drive and implement PMO services and capability support across Transport Services to enable Waka Kotahi to successfully deliver on the Agency plan.
As well as being accountable for the Waka Kotahi values and behaviours, your role has the following specific key accountabilities :
Establish and manage assigned portfolios to best effect, ensuring projects and programmes are aligned to agreed EPMO direction, values, standards and frameworks
Provide technical leadership and support to team members and other teams across the Agency, to drive alignment with the EPMO Project Controls Framework and Transport Services Project Management Manual and ongoing alignment of activities within each portfolio in meeting business outcomes
Effectively manage delivery risks and issues in programmes and projects to support the delivery of the One Agency Business Plan
Identify trends across the portfolio and share these insights and recommended approach through provision of capability programmes or improvement plans with the EPMO
Monitor programme and project change requests to ensure alignment with business cases, business plan and benefits expected

To be successful in this role, you will need to bring your know how' :
Proven experience at an Advisor or Principal Advisor level in a complex PMO environment, ideally with experience working on construction or large scale programmes and projects
Proven knowledge and understanding of portfolio, programme and project methodologies and reporting
Proven experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders
Demonstrable experience reviewing key project and programme documentation and working with teams to deliver quality outputs
Exceptional organisational skills in prioritising and managing workloads
Experience in using relevant systems in a PMO environment ideally with PlanView, SAP, Transport Investment Online or relevant financial experience
A recognised project or programme management professional qualification i.e. Project Management Professional (PMP), Prince2, and / or Managing Successful Programme (MSP)
