The Opportunity Sensor Expert

The Curtiss-Wright's Sensors and Controls business unit are looking for an experienced engineer (Sensors Expert) to join us at our site in Christchurch, UK.

Here, we design and manufacture flight critical parts for Commercial and Military aircraft and this is your chance to join us as we grow.

In this role you will be working in the design engineering team, providing expertise on linear and rotary sensor designs, driving innovation, and assisting with technical proposals for commercial and military Aerospace applications.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of the aerospace industry and have a track record of delivering sensor products, wire wound or solid state and preferably both through the full design lifecycle.

The candidate will be competent in analogue electronics, electromagnetics, mechanical design with ideally a minimum of 10 years of experience in this field.

Required skills to include :

Electronics design, Sensor design, PCB design (not essential), working knowledge of Multisim, project management and excellent verbal / written communication skills.


  • Provide design schemes for new products in-line with customer requirements to support proposals.
  • Generation of compliance matrix and risk management documentation.
  • Drive innovation and be hands on to support R&D activities.
  • Support operations with any manufacturing / quality issues making technical judgements to approve disposition of non-conformances, engineering change requests.
  • Identify risks and cost drivers.
  • Generate and check / approve manufacturing drawings.
  • Lead small project teams as required.
  • Support investigation activities using 8D and other similar problem-solving tools.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree educated within a relevant Engineering subject
  • 10+ Year experience with Sensor products.
  • Knowledge of flight / engine controls in aerospace.
  • This position may require exposure to information which is subject to export control regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
