Job Overview & Purpose :

The position is an integral part of managing a portfolio of Major Agribusiness Clients (MAC) supporting the Major Agribusiness Manager.

The role will manage and grow the portfolio of MAC clients both independently and in support of Major Agribusiness Manager (s) in accordance with Bank and Region goals for profitability, client satisfaction and credit quality.

Major Agribusiness Clients is a key division of Rabobank New Zealand which has 32 offices across New Zealand. Rabobank enjoys a reputation as the leading provider of specialised banking services in the Food and Agribusiness sector.

The Retail and Rural sector of Rabobank Australia and New Zealand Group (RANZG) is an important contributor to Rabobank globally.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

On behalf of and with the supervision of an Agribusiness Manager (s) : -

  • Meet individual targets for business growth
  • Manage / develop a portfolio of clients (max 10) by developing strong client relationships
  • Respond to requirements of prospective and existing clients
  • Assist the Major Agribusiness Manager (s)in :

  • Identifying capital structure, working capital and risk management opportunities within our existing customer base and for MAC prospects
  • Delivering technical cash flow analysis
  • Structuring complex transactions
  • Present information on Bank products and services to clients and prospective clients both with and independently of the Major Agribusiness Manager
  • Maintain and complete annual credit reviews within bank policy
  • Complete Account Manager reviews on behalf of the Major Agribusiness Manager
  • Assist MAC Analyst monitor loan arrears and accounts in excess, and take appropriate action to rectify
  • Ensure loan facilities are settled in a timely manner. Instruct and assist solicitors as required
  • Maintain and utilise the CRM tool to produce reports and associated correspondence as required and identify target prospects
  • Complete appropriate follow up and prospecting of clients, prospects and referral sources
  • Maintain relationships with local referral sources, including accountants, solicitors and consultants
  • Draft and issue correspondence on behalf of Major Agribusiness Managers
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction and maintain high customer advocacy rates
  • Ensure the credit application process is completed to a high standard with minimal reworks
  • Identify business risks and poor-performing assets early and ensure appropriate action taken to resolve
  • Ensure compliance with the bank’s policies and procedures at all times, including Audit, Compliance, Business Continuity and Credit (excesses, reviews, client conditions)
  • Contribute to the achievement of the Bank's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) goals and objectives and adhere to CSR policies
  • Promote the desired risk culture and maintain strong relationships with all lines of defence
  • Assist with the management and resolution of customer complaints and disputes in a timely manner
  • Coach and mentor colleagues as required
  • Maintain and build relationships with local referral services, i.e. accountants and solicitors. Adhere to all policies and procedures in relation to compliance, risk, legal and system updates
  • Other duties as directed
  • Qualifications : Essential :

    Essential :

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or relevant agricultural discipline.
  • Experience :

  • 5-10 years (minimum 5 years) experience in relationship / portfolio / account management or similar, gained within rural banking or related industry role.
