The Education Review Office (ERO) works for the benefit of New Zealand's young children and students.
Within ERO, Te Ihuwaka The Education Evaluation Centre works on a wide variety of topical and timely projects to evaluate the performance of the education system, the effectiveness of programmes and to highlight best practice.
With its strong connection with schools and early childhood centres, along with its specialised evaluation and research expertise, Te Ihuwaka is uniquely positioned to provide the independent and objective advice which is needed by decisionmakers and stakeholders.
Over the past 12 months Te Ihuwaka has evaluated and had an impact on a wide range of issues including learning in lockdown, learning in Oranga Tamariki residences and teaching practice in science.
doing a deep dive into provision for key groups; linking to international reviews; or working on a thematic review of aspects of the system.
About the role
Evaluators play an important role in project teams using evaluation or research experience to contribute to the planning, designing and delivery of evaluation projects.
Senior Evaluators are a critical part of the team they provide technical expertise, plan and lead our evaluation projects and work with a range of stakeholders.
We are keen to hear from you if you bring evaluation or research experience and a collaborative approach to your work. You will be comfortable with ambiguity, driven to succeed, and committed to putting children at the heart of the matter.
Ideally, you'll have a background in social sector research / evaluation however we are also interested to hear from recent graduates keen to build a career in the education sector or as social researchers / evaluators.
You must be comfortable with producing findings that reach a range of audiences including students, parents and whānau, teachers and policy makers.
Good quantitative skills can be a bonus.
