The Role

We have an exceptional opportunity for a Fleet and Infrastructure Manager. This role will lead the Train Services rolling stock team (2 direct reports) ensuring the fleet and track infrastructure reaches its optimum levels.

This vital role is responsible for the long-term stewardship of the fleet as well as owning the interface relationship with the rolling stock maintainer, Auckland Transports asset management team and the Rail franchise operator post 2025.

This role will manage AT's agent to the rolling stock maintainer to ensure the delivery of safe, reliable, optimised maintenance and rolling stock availability.

Manage the maintainer / operator relationship and contract management, annual budget, KPI negotiations and subsequent maintainer performance management.

This role will own the strategy for the ongoing maintenance and renewal of the stabling and Wiri depot rail assets and future stabling and maintenance facilities.

Manage the interface relationship with the rail infrastructure maintainer and rail franchisee, and work to ensure that any necessary inspection, maintenance and renewal work takes place efficiently and within the allowances included in the timetable and as planned with the agreed NMP.

About you

To be considered for this position you will have :

  • Commercial degree or Engineering degree
  • Tertiary mechanical, electrical or electronic qualification
  • Minimum 15 years operational and infrastructure experience. Knowledge and experience of strategy and programme development, including rail project evaluation and assessment.
  • Significant experience in the maintenance space, preferably in rail environment and commercial experience dealing directly with customers and suppliers
  • Knowledge and experience of rail systems and network development including the legal, regulatory and contractual arrangements in place for the Auckland rail system.
  • The ability to be personally resilient, make judgement decisions, interpret complex information, and be MS excel savvy.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills including the ability to operate effectively at all levels within Auckland Transport and with external stakeholders.
  • Political sensitivity and awareness.
