Homeless Worker - Brief Intervention (Mon - Sun Roster)The Homeless Outreach Service is a team that provides integrated social services to Auckland's homeless and rough sleepers through outreach, case-
management, community support and advocacy.This position involves brief interventions with people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The Homeless Worker Brief Intervention will build professional relationships with clients of the Mission and offer pathways and support to those accessing services.
The successful applicant will have outstanding relational ability and be effective at planning and goal setting with a client centred approach.
Tasks may include referrals to other Mission services, referrals to external agencies, linking clients with other support services and encouraging participation with Mission activities.
You will be involved in supporting clients to access a benefit, access emergency accommodation, apply for permanent housing, sourcing accommodation and referring to other support agencies as required.
You will also be instrumental in building a sense of community within the Mission and providing a safe and accessible service to a hard to reach population.
Included in this role are associated administration and reporting tasks.You will need : Social Work Degree or similar at Bachelor level.
Experience working with vulnerable populations.Exceptional ability to build rapport with service users.Evidence of inter-
personal and communication (written and oral) skills.An understanding of how to work with vulnerable people and the systems they have to engage with.
Excellent team building, collaboration and partnering skills, with aptitude for getting things done through both formal and informal channels.
