Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

At Contact our people-centred technology delivery is unique for many reasons. This newly created position is the driver of the person(s)! But just to be clear, we’re seeking someone to lead others, develop their capabilities, performance, training, onboarding, career planning and development needs are in your hands.

You will also be leading the charge on improving the processes and approaches used across the employee lifecycle for data professional, including growth & capability frameworks, the team onboarding experience and team culture.

There are about 4 squads that are primarily made up of our data engineers and data analysts, in total 20 25 people.

We’re not set on a specific type of background you’ll come from however you’ll need a couple of must haves :

  • Have the person at the centre of your world (people over process)
  • Coaching & mentoring skills coupled with an high EQ
  • Don’t need the deep technical / data knowledge but need to understand the lingo
  • Some additional information to help your application is;
  • Navigate courageous conversations, while supporting your team members
  • Build and sustain a culture of open communication and feedback
  • Our goal is to ensure that members of the team are well supported, with the right skills and have an environment and opportunities to continuously grow.
  • Maintain great working relationships with the people in your care, and those they work with, to ensure issues are responsibly addressed and successes are regularly recognised
  • Drive initiatives to create sustainable development pathways for data engineers and analysts, leveraging all available support from Contact people experience teams.
  • If you have the following it would be helpful;
  • A background in engineering and / or analytics is preferred to help in identifying areas of improvement that promote a sustainable technical work environment for the people you work with
  • Previous experience in operational leadership roles, especially leading software development and / or data teams
  • A solid understanding of the software development life cycle to help navigate the challenges and growth opportunities your team members face
