What You ll Do

As an Engineering Technician, you ll be part of our Engineered Fastening team located in Elyria, OH. You will be a key team member with the ability to impact the overall performance of the cold forming departments by developing / training the workforce, developing cold forming tooling, lead tool trials and PPAP s, troubleshoot equipment as well as monitoring the upkeep of the cold forming equipment.

The communication between manufacturing team and engineering team is a major responsibility of this position. You ll get to :

Position Responsibilities :

  • Redesign problematic tooling within the manufacturing floor in conjunction with Engineering team.
  • Inspects tooling and helps with setups on machines.
  • Candidate will lead cold forming PPAP / New Development parts for smooth launch.
  • Engineering Tech will be responsible for monitoring machine capabilities including calibrations.
  • Research and evaluate current processes to identify problem areas and propose possible solutions.
  • Identify manufacturing problems, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
  • Complete work improvement projects by training and guiding operators and supervisors.
  • Work closely with other departments including manufacturing, quality control, and other engineering departments.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives and support sustainment efforts of new / improved processes; Contribute to cost savings plans set up by corporate initiatives.
  • Support plant policies, goals, standards, values, and strategic planning; responsible for adhering to the Environmental Policy as well as supporting the procedures and work instructions maintained within the Environmental Management System.
  • Other duties as directed by the Engineering Manager.

    Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills.

    Proficient knowledge in Operation / Troubleshooting cold heading machines and thread rolling machines.

    Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, blueprints, quality specifications, and other related documents.

    Engage team environment to resolve set up issues, actively participate in team meetings.

    Strong sense of urgency and personal commitment.

    Possesses good written, verbal, and presentation skills.

    Tool design and development experience is preferred.

    Ability to work with many different disciplines across all levels of the organization.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications is preferred.

    Education and Experience :

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Trade School preferred.

    Minimum 10 years experience in a cold forming and rolling operations.

    Experience in metal fabrication, heat treatment, machining, and tool design a plus.

    Ability to drive change in products, processes, and organizational culture.
