MidCentral District Health Board Child Development Service is seeking a dynamic and experienced Speech-Language Therapist to provide services to children with disabilities and their whanau.

The successful candidate will join a well-established multi-disciplinary team who work collaboratively with the diverse community they serve.

We invite applications from Speech Language Therapists who are :

  • Strong in their professional knowledge and have the skills to effectively utilise knowledge for the benefit of the community we work with
  • Able to build effective relationships with tamariki, whanau, other professionals and agencies
  • Adaptable, responsive and innovation in their practice
  • Able to move easily between working independently and as part of a team
  • Experienced in working with infants and children who experience a range of feeding and swallowing difficulties
  • A member of NZSTA and have a current practicing certificate
  • Have a drivers licence as travel around our beautiful rohe will be part of your working day
  • Our Service is based at the Palmerston North Hospital with therapy and assessment activities taking place primarily in the community but also in inpatient settings as appropriate.

    General Information

    MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts.

    Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 168,000.

    In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

    Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures.

    Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
