Our Projects and Real Estate team is looking for a Senior Solicitor or Senior Associate to join our team in Auckland. The team is recognised as market leading in construction, infrastructure and property development projects across a wide range of sectors.

The team also acts on large-scale commercial real estate transactions.

As a senior lawyer, you will be confident advising on construction contracts, infrastructure projects and property development projects across a wide range of industry sectors.

The team prides itself on a non-confrontational approach, with a focus on understanding competing perspectives and context.

This allows us to implement best-for-project solutions which meet our client’s requirements. You will have experience operating in this way, and your negotiation and drafting skills will facilitate the effective implementation of this approach.

The real estate practice involves primarily advising on the acquisition and disposition of commercial assets, as well as leasing and all usual ancillary work.

The team has specialist experience advising on the sale and purchase of commercial office buildings, having acted on the two largest commercial office building acquisitions of 2018 and 2019 using a forward-purchase structure.

Your experience will translate, in part or in full, and you may bring something new too.

The construction and infrastructure practice comprises a combination of major project work, as well as day-to-day commercial construction contracting.

The nature of this work means we often find ourselves acting as part of multi-disciplinary team together with engineers, financial and commercial advisors and other specialists.

Within this type of environment, you will be accustomed to providing legal advice which takes into account all relevant project considerations.

We are looking for an experienced lawyer who has the desire to be involved in market-leading transactions and who has the drive and ambition to do so in an effective and efficient way.

Experience and qualifications

  • 5 or more years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Big real estate and construction project experience large construction, infrastructure and property development projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent written skills.
  • Right to work in New Zealand (we will consider foreign qualified lawyers, provided they already have their visa and quarantine arrangements sorted the firm’s resourcing needs do not qualify for the current visa exemption categories under the covid -19 restrictions)
