Platinum Recruitment are excited to partner with the Otago Polytechnic to deliver this exciting opportunity for an experienced, qualified, and enthusiastic Business Partner, in a significant period of organisational transformation.

Working collaboratively across the team, you will have input into People and Culture, leading the way for proactive workforce planning and change across the organisation.

About the role : The successful HR professional will provide business partnering services to an internal portfolio, and own HR functional responsibility.

The P&C BP is also responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in a changing environment.

  • Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, the People and Culture Business Partner will provide HR advice, guidance and support across their portfolio on a variety of areas including;
  • workforce and succession planning, performance management, dispute resolution, on-boarding, employee relations as well as the delivery and administration of human resource policies and procedures.

    Contributing to the development and delivery of people and culture strategies which support Otago Polytechnic to be an employer of choice that attracts and retains exceptional talent.

    You will be responsible for providing strategic advice and operational support in the effective management of all aspects within the employee lifecycle.

    You will work closely with leaders and employees in your portfolio to build capacity and knowledge of People, Culture and Development policy and practice.

    Delivering the continuous improvement of policies, procedures, and best practice. Other key responsibilities will include : Partner with leadership in people, culture and change management related activities.

    Provide Coaching, Support and advice across the portfolio.Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to be able to influence outcomes in line with strategic goals.

    Ensure a consistently high standard of delivery for people related activities.Provide expert HR advice, guidance and support to management regarding employee / industrial relations issues.

    Support the implementation of key projects and strategic initiatives.Provide support to employees throughout the employee lifecycle.

    Collaborate with People Team to support the focus on attracting, retaining and development top talent.Analyse data and trends to be able to identify issues and solutions.

    Researching issues and developing solutions to resolve business issuesDemonstrate the Otago Polytechnic Values (Caring, Courage, Accountability, Empowerment) on a daily basisAs an experienced HR generalist / Business Partner, you will : Be a positive, driven individual who is flexible, adaptable and open to change.

    A strong team player, you will need a blend of the following to be successful : Relevant qualification and experience in similar area5+ years in generalist HRAttendance at specific technical training courses, conferences and workshopsContributed to the resolution of workplace issuesExperience in performance management issuesDeveloping experience in a consultative environmentBuilt and maintained strong client relationships and influencing skillsIn-depth knowledge of Human Resource organisational policies and practices.

    Strong knowledge of Generalist Human Resources best practice.Ability to work under own initiative.Committed to own development and building the capability of others via mentoring / coaching.
