We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our vibrant Team as the Senior Advisor, Information Security and Risk for NZQA's information security practices, providing specialist expertise and support to internal stakeholders and project teams on information security, risk, accreditation, compliance, and incident management activities.

It also has responsibility for lifting NZQA's cyber security awareness and capability, as directed by the GCDO and GCSB.

As a leadership position within IS, this position is jointly accountable for the establishment and maintenance of a collaborative customer service ethic by identifying and championing a range of cyber security initiatives which communicate and embed this approach.

This role reports to the Chief Information Officer.

Day-to-day, your key accountabilities will be :

  • Monitoring all security activities to ensure that service levels and key performance indicators are met, and potential threats are assessed and mitigated.
  • Proactively engaging with the business and ensuring customer focussed & enabling ICT security advice and services.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to ensure compliance with NZQA and government sector security policies, standards and guidelines.
  • Championing information security awareness and risk management practices across the IS group and advising and supporting the Departmental Security Officer in raising information security awareness across NZQA.
  • Developing & maintaining a service catalogue for the services provided and standards users can expect.
  • Facilitating and contributing to periodic security audit processes and reporting.
  • Contributing to, and participating in, education sector information security policy, process development and related initiatives.
  • Monitoring the operational compliance of risk management and monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the IS risk management practices.
  • If you have experience in these areas, coupled with the ability to prepare appropriate communications and carry out the necessary reporting and can monitor the operational compliance of agreed security policy for new and existing systems / infrastructure, then this may be the role for you.
