About the Role

Waste Management NZ Ltd has successfully securedthe new Hutt City Council Kerbside Refuse, Recycling and Green Waste collectioncontract, starting on 1 July this year.

We are now seeking a ContaminationInspector to join our team based in Seaview, Lower Hutt.

Therole of Contamination Inspector is a newly created role which will see youresponsible for undertaking inspections of receptables on the kerbside fromresidential households recycling bins to ensure no contamination ofnon-recyclable materials.

TheContamination Inspector will record observations and communicate and educateresidents when high level of contamination is identified in residentialreceptables and work closely with the Municipal Contracts Manager and localcouncil to divert all non-recyclable material away from the processing facilitywhilst educating the public on what can be recycled!

We offer acompetitive hourly rate, consistent hours throughout the year and a tool oftrade vehicle available to use Monday to Friday.

To be successfulin this role we are looking for :

  • Someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and passionate about sustainability and recycling.
  • Previous experience within the Waste or recycling industry is desired however full training will be provided.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to a diverse range of people
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft office suite.
  • Physically fit and have stamina to meet volume objectives by foot full time.
  • Ability to accurately record data and produce reports to meet contractual requirements.
  • A full Class 1 driver’s licence.
