About this opportunity

This position is for a Senior Data Modeller on the Data, Integration and Applied AI team.

The core objectives of the team are to ensure the data systems and pipelines are working properly and efficiently, maintain high data quality and availability for downstream analytics, and enhance / add new data capabilities for the business.

Southern Cross is transitioning from a hybrid on-premises and Azure cloud data environment to one hosted almost entirely on the Snowflake cloud data warehousing platform.

You will need to maintain existing legacy processes during this transition, help support the transition, and maintain the new processes once the migration is complete.

About the role

  • Investigate and implement fixes for problems in our ETL pipelines. This may require working with business partners to resolve issues with the defined logic, or investigating technical exceptions with the server, code, network, etc.
  • Propose enhancements to our data models and work with product owners / business partners to define requirements, design a solution, and implement.
  • Help drive development best practices and make our code bases / ETL pipelines easier to maintain, debug, and enhance.
  • About you

  • 3-5 years building or maintaining ETL processes / pipelines.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of any dialect of SQL.
  • General knowledge / aptitude for programming in a language such as python, JavaScript / node, bash / shell, C#, or Java.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Additional desired skills, attributes, or experience

  • Experience creating or maintaining dev ops pipelines.
  • A follower of good version control, clean coding, and testing practices.
  • Knowledge of ReST APIs.
  • Experience with data analytics, AI, or machine learning.
