If you're seeking a summer job between the period 3 October 2022 - 30 April 2023, continue reading. We will be employing multiple Onboard Services Crew (OBS) on a fixed term part-time basis for a period of 3 - 6 months.

These roles are an add on to the permanent full-time team, hence you'll need to be able to and willing to work 9 - 20 hours per week.

As it's peak season you will be expected to work over the Christmas and New Year period.

Summer crew overview :

  • Between 3 October 2022 - 30 April 2022 (each fortnight)
  • Need to be able to able and willing to work over the Christmas and New Years period
  • Need to be available for at least three (3) consecutive months at 9 - 20 hours per week (shift based, rotating roster)
  • Hours worked fall between 6am - 10.30pm to enable the use of public transport as we don't have parking available onsite
  • If you're able to work outside of public transport hours (own transport or lift), this would mean the opportunity to pick up even more hours than listed above.

    We have a fleet of 21 vessels (ferries) with our electric hybrid ferry build set to start in 2022. Additionally, Waiheke Bus Company ushered in the electric era for Waiheke, making it the first Auckland suburb with an electric bus fleet.

    The company also has 30 modern coaches ranging in size from 19 to over 70 seats, including three double decker buses used primarily for the popular Explorer Hop on Hop off bus tour.

    About the role

    Reporting to the Crew Development Manager, our Onboard Services Crew role is an entry level position onto our fleet of speed passenger vessels.

    In the role you will showcase your hospitality skills behind our onboard café and provide a very high standard of customer service to both tourists and our regular commuters, whilst also participating in marine drills and learning invaluable skills for future employment.

    You'll be tasked with :

  • Providing the highest level of customer service and bar and café services to customers
  • Promoting our products and providing accurate information on our services
  • Ensuring the vessel is ready for boarding by cleaning all areas and restocking products
  • Demonstrating a commitment to health and safety measures onboard.
  • For success you'll need to :

  • Be passionate about customer service, the customer experience and tourism / maritime industry
  • Be punctual, reliable and take pride in your appearance
  • Be able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Have a good level of maturity with the ability to work under pressure
  • Have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • About the hours of work

  • Rotating roster (no set pattern) including public holidays and weekends
  • Shifts fall between the hours of 6am - 10.30pm, if you have your own transportation it can be extended past midnight (till around 2am).
