The purpose of the role
and your unique contribution is to prepare high quality guidance and advice supporting the Group Portfolio, Product & Claims function within the Chief Underwriting Office.
This includes research, analysis and assimilation of information from a variety of internal and external sources in order to feed structured and up-to-date information into the identification of emerging Insurance Risks which includes but is not limited to ESG risks and their current and potential impact on the Insurance value chain.
You will develop understanding and facilitate material based on the trends and insights researched, translate this information and communicate the insurance risk to the business and make relevant recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
Support the management of Emerging Insurance Risks & Opportunities by defining and undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and analysis of information of strategic priority that will influence the identification and management of Emerging Insurance Risks (including Climate & ESG risks as they relate to Insurance risk via the IAG Climate & Disaster Resilience Action Plan)
Develop dynamic fact bases that provide insights and implications to inform the on-going understanding of Emerging Insurance Risk & Opportunities
Ensure complex implications for IAG are understood, including the impacts on operation, customer, partner and Divisions are considered and managed through modelling of various scenario’s and defining the likely outcome of different options
Engage and co-ordinate with IAG stakeholders and external partners as required to ensure risk, opportunities and contributions are incorporated into IAG Emerging Insurance Risk procedure and action plans
Developing and supporting the production of regular outputs for presentation, governance and reporting purposes
Translate opportunities into recommendations for new product and service opportunities within IAG
Skills & Experience
Strong experience gained preferably in a strategy / science / emerging technology / climate context will be advantageous
Intellectually curious, motivated & able to think strategically while also having an eye for detail.
Ability to manage projects and complex stakeholder relations independently
Excellent business analysis / insight and ability to communicate this succinctly but with depth in both written and verbal forms
Ability to navigate complex organisations and regulated products / services
Experience in turning technical / expert knowledge into easy to understand narratives (creative communication skills are a plus)
Awareness of changing technology / customer / insurance trends
Creativity - through application of hands-on & learned knowledge / and / or generating insight from synthesised knowledge
Experience in working in research, strategy, innovation or science function is a plus however diverse backgrounds, aptitude and experiences welcomed
