Our Senior National Management Reporting Accountant is a key role within the National Management Accounting team, supporting people who are passionate about conservation and making a difference.

This experienced team are a vital part of the mahi that is undertaken to ensure that Papatūānuku Thrives. Te Papa Atawhai is upgrading its Financial Management Information System with new budgeting and forecasting tools, that will significantly improve its financial performance, so this is an exciting time to come on board.

He angitūtanga : About the Role

As the Senior National Management Reporting Accountant, you will be part of a highly capable, experienced, and collegial team who are focused on providing exceptional technical support and high-quality management accounting services to the Te Papa Atahwai leadership team.

You will contribute to a wide range of tasks at all management levels that will challenge you to develop and enhance your business and relationship building skills.

You will be the financial expert and first point of contact in relation to :

  • Department and Non-Department (Crown) performance reporting and systems.
  • Annual appropriation and baseline updates.
  • Treasury engagement.
  • Your key responsibilities include :

  • Preparation and development of monthly Department and Non-Department reporting to the senior leadership team, including Deputy Director groups financial and non-financial performance reporting
  • Responsibility for the development and maintenance of the Department's financial planning levels and budgets
  • Lead the coordination on all Treasury baseline updates and annual Budget Estimates processes
  • Facilitate monthly Treasury meetings and outcomes
  • Support the finance team in systems and process improvements
  • You will be supported in this role by a part time National Management Accountant.

    You will also possess :

  • Professional accreditation with CIMA, CA, ACA or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
  • Knowledge of the Government financial management framework and applicable legislation.
  • A proactive and engaging mindset focused on achieving outcomes acceptable to all parties
  • A proven self-starter, able to use initiative to identify and help deliver process improvement opportunities, prioritise deliverables and anticipate the needs of the customer
  • Experience with Financial Management Information Systems (preferably SAP), Excel and other Microsoft applications and analysis tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
