The Haere Kakea Te Ara Poka Hou / Te Hoiere Project is a collaborative programme providing visionary leadership to support the restoration, enhancement and safeguarding of the environment of the Te Hoiere water ways and its catchments.
Ngāti Kuia; Rangitāne o Wairau; the Community and supported by the Department of Conservation and the Ministry of the Environment.
The Council has a key role supporting the Trust and providing management and programme delivery services.

The Council is recruiting for a new Programme Manager role expected to assist the Te Hoiere Kaitiaki Charitable Trust to achieve its goals and aspirations to ensure the natural environmental flourishes, while sustaining how people live, work and enjoy the Te Hoiere / Pelorus catchment.
A key part of the role is to lead and manage a dedicated team of staff and passionate stakeholders implementing the Integrated Catchment Enhancement Plan that has identified up to 70 primary actions across the Haere Kakea Te Ara Poka Hou / Te Hoiere catchment.
The work programme includes a range of initiatives such as restoration and protection projects, land management programmes, research to better understand the catchment, and a focus on Matauranga Māori initiatives and community participation The operational budgets exceed $3m per year.
The is a fixed term position (3 years) and is primarily based out of Council’s District Administration Building in Blenheim, however the role is expected to be able to work in conjunction with stakeholders and operate within the Te Hoiere catchment.

Our ideal candidate will have at least five years’ management and operational experience in an environmental or conservation related field.
We are looking for someone that is a strategic thinker, has solid leadership, management, and business skills, supported by a strong planning capability to deliver large scale conservation projects through teamwork under tight fiscal and timeframe constraints.
You will have :
Tertiary qualifications in natural resource management or business / management or similar will be highly regarded but are not essential, provided you have considerable experience, skills and knowledge for this role.
