Opportunity for Senior Policy Analysts in the Regulatory Policy team

  • Two Wellington based permanent positions available The Regulatory Policy team works on a range of cross-cutting health issues relating to regulatory systems including controlled drugs and medicinal cannabis.
  • The team has a leadership role in providing a regulatory policy centre of excellence for, and regulatory stewardship guidance across the Ministry.

    You will work with other government and non-government agencies, and the health and disability sector to provide advice on improving outcomes for all New Zealanders.

    You'll bring a thorough understanding of public policy issues including Te Tiriti and Equity requirements, and have demonstrated success in developing fit for purpose policy advice in a dynamic environment.

    You can take on new information and apply policy frameworks to work under tight timeframes. You need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of how legislative and regulatory frameworks can be applied to deliver health outcomes.

    As a highly collaborative policy professional who can see the benefits of strong policy advice using data analysis and research to evidence advice, you bring with you a strong ability to take complex information and make it relevant across a range of audiences.

    Your advice is able to be understood by a range of audiences, breaking down complex problems to come up with achievable and equitable solutions.

    You will be comfortable sharing your knowledge and mentoring analysts to grow their policy skills. You are open to learning from others, seeking opportunities through your work to further grow both your written and analytical skillsets, whilst demonstrating core leadership skills when overseeing pieces of work with support from analysts.

    At times you will be part of virtual teams across the Ministry and sector, including policy, operational and clinical stakeholders.

    You'll understand the machinery of government and know how to collaborate to get things done. While experience in the health and social sector is preferable, it is your ability to provide great policy advice, your strong understanding of core government and legislative processes and your experience working with Ministers that will see you succeed in this role.
