About the role

This new role will see you playing a pivotal role in the Employment Relations team and the People and Capability work programme.

You will lead a team responsible for developing, improving and implementing processes and systems relating to employment relationship problem resolution in Ara Poutama.

Your key responsibilities will include :

  • Overseeing and monitoring advice, guidance and support to the regions and business partners about complex ER matters
  • The continuous improvement of how we manage complex ER related issues
  • Supporting the resolution of more complex employment relationships issues with a team of ER specialists

    You will be a collaborative, strategic thinker, ideally with a background working in large workforces that are highly unionised.

    You will have :

  • Significant experience in resolving Employment Relations issues
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and other relevant legislation
  • Strong relationship management skills including the ability to influence senior leaders
  • The motivation to work and inspire in a busy, fast paced team environment with high workloads
  • A strong level of cultural capability and awareness and an understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi and it's application is desired
