If so, come and join the Property and Planning Group at Auckland Transport as our Manager - Acquisitions

You will lead a team of specialists who acquire the land for our transport projects and provide property related Public Works Act advice.

Working closely with our consent planning and programme delivery teams as well as our CCO partners the Manager Acquisitions is responsible for the delivery of a substantial capital acquisitions programme including forecasting, programming and project management.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership role that will lead and develop the property acquisitions team.

As the Manager - Acquisitions you will :

  • Develop systems and processes to support the land acquisition programme and technical services
  • Lead the development of all strategies, policy and planning for property acquisition and technical services
  • Prepare and / or approve all business cases and strategies relating to property acquisition and technical services
  • Prepare the annual Transport Plan budgets for all property related acquisitions projects
  • Inform decision making by ensuring that timely advice on property, valuation and acquisition strategies is provided to our internal teams and Governance Groups, and our Board.
  • Provide inspiring leadership, coaching and support to a team of professionals leading and / or contributing to the acquisition of land for transport projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with our delivery teams and partners and drive a culture of collaboration.
  • Other key requirements include :

  • A sound and comprehensive understanding of property, preferable in the Public Sector including;
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a leadership role
  • Experience in leading a skilled, high performing and engaged professional team in a multi-faceted and demanding environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in budgeting, forecasting and reporting of large scale property or delivery programmes
  • Experience in establishing and utilising effective systems and processes to ensure statutory compliance
  • A sound understanding of the workings of local government, including current and future business drivers
  • Experience presenting to boards, and in a public forum
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship and conflict resolution skills
  • A collaborative, considered and sensitive approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Along with the above-mentioned skills and experience, this position will draw on your ability to be highly organised, analytical and operational reasoning skills, customer centric focus and drive to achieve outcomes.
