What you will doOur Financial Advisors provide a high level of financial and business advice to internal NZDF customers both military and civilian.

  • In this role you will work alongside muiltary and civilian personnel at our Hokowhitu campus supporting NZ Army's Training and Doctrine group (TRADOC) customers with financial planning, budgeting and forecasting advice;
  • monitoring and reporting of financial performance, assisting management with interpreting financial policies and procedures along with financial training and coaching for both military and civilian staff.

    Financial Advisors work with a high degree of autonomy, and represent the Finance function with maturity and credibility.

    Therefore, we are seeking someone who is both technically sound and has the ability to interact effectively across a wide range of stakeholders.

    You will be based in Palmerston North for this role and there will be a requirement to travel within the Central region including Waiouru.

    What we needTo be successful in this role, the key skills and attributes that we are looking for are :

  • Excellent and effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • An understanding and knowledge of management accounting and financial management principles and practices;
  • A graduate tertiary qualification in Accounting and either be qualified or working towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification;
  • Practical experience of 3-5 years in a management accounting role in a professional services organisation;
  • Experience with ERP packages such as SAP or Oracle, and experience with a reporting or budgeting tool such as TM1 is also desirable;
  • Ability to travel between Palmerston North, Waiouru and Linton Military camps staying overnight from time to time.Who we areFinancial Advisory are part of the Financial Service Delivery team within NZDF Finance.
  • The Finance Service Delivery team provide financial advice and business decision support to key internal customers with financial governance responsibilities.

  • is a citizen of, and / or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years : either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA;
  • and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

    If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
