Principal, Cost Advisory (Auckland)

  • Cost Advisory leadership role consulting across a highly diverse range of significant infrastructure, community, and city related projects
  • Lead client facing interactions, with a focus on growing the Cost Management and Advisory practice, including developing others technical capability
  • Play a key role in the city and region, while being a senior member of Beca’s national Project, Strategy and Delivery business
  • Te kāinga rua The opportunity Join the Cost Advisory team in Auckland where you will play a key part in leading and delivering quantity surveying and cost consultancy services across a diverse range of projects.

    You will be a self-starter, where you will be working closely with the team, and supported by your Beca peers from all disciplines in the Auckland office.

    You will enjoy working across a variety of sectors with development occurring across airports, defence, transport and infrastructure, commercial buildings, education, community, and industrial development projects.

    You will be the focal point for delivery of Cost Advisory services for Beca both internally (supporting teams in one of New Zealand’s largest multidiscipline consultancy businesses) and externally to clients across multiple sectors.

    You will enjoy building credible, collaborative, and sustainable relationships with clients as well as having the responsibility of fronting’ and working with clients when delivering projects.

    An ability to enhance Beca’s reputation and credibility through project delivery capability is critical. You will also enjoy the support of the existing team and the broader Project, Delivery and Strategy team.

    The ability to build collaborative relationships with management and your peers will be key to success in this , you will have access to a truly multi discipline business where you can draw on technical experts to support delivery of significant and complex projects.

    Learn more about our Cost Advisory practice here : Te rongoā About you In this role, you will have plenty of scope for success and we are looking for a high performing professional with a real passion for cost management, who understands logical costing methods, as well as having a client first focus.

    You will have a demonstrated ability to apply first principals estimating, use composite rates and benchmark data, set initial workable budgets at project inception, and manage cost processes through to completion of a project.

    You will thrive when working with ambiguity especially in early project planning , as well as being confident working with contractor and design teams.

    You will be known for your ability to understand and describe complex methods in simple terms. You will enjoy building relationships and understand key project requirements and display commercial and financial judgement.

    This role may suit candidates from a broad range of backgrounds however does require consulting and advisory abilities and a demonstrated ability to work with others to solve complex client problems.

    While the role covers a range of sectors, a background in civil infrastructure, transport or buildings as well as experience across the region would be an advantage.

    Ultimately this is a key role to strengthen our regional Cost Advisory and Project Strategy & Delivery business. We are looking for a savvy, innovative and commercially minded professional with a collaborative and credible approach.
