We have four full-time Senior Project Manager opportunities in the Planning and Infrastructure Groups’ Projects team to deliver a wide variety of complex projects within the 21-31 Long Term Plan.
The roles fall within the following three areas of expertise :
Planning and Strategy Projects
Three Water’s Projects (Water, Wastewater and Stormwater)

With excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, you will be responsible for the establishment and delivery of complex projects and be able to bring together and lead a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts across council business units.
The role will also include support and mentoring of project managers and graduate project managers.
You will have the following skills and experience :
project management and leadership in multi-disciplinary projects;
leading change initiatives;
involvement in procurement and collaborative contract working;
an appreciation for the bigger picture that projects are being delivered in;
For the Three Water’s position : project management and leadership in 3 Water’s projects, either reticulation or Water / Wastewater treatment;
Water / wastewater / reticulation design, construction and or operational experience;
Ideally you’ll come to us with a tertiary qualification and project management qualification.

Planning and Infrastructure
POSITION PURPOSE :
Responsible for the delivery of planning and infrastructure projects across three waters, civil, built environment and building disciplines.
Integrated - Operational Managers and Leads in Planning and Infrastructure Group, Property Team, Financial Services Team, HSE Team, Iwi Liaison and Procurement Team.
External - Community, iwi, External Regulators, Consultants, Suppliers, Contractors and customers and businesses.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :
To deliver planning and infrastructure projects within the Council’s Long Term Plan
Undertake the Project Manager role within the Councils Portfolios, Programme and Project Management (P3M) Framework.
Assisting with on-boarding new project managers and providing ongoing mentoring and support to project managers.
Supporting the culture of supply chain leadership within project teams.
Responsible for ensuring contract documents and tenders are prepared in line with Council policy and legal requirements.
Responsible for ensuring health and safety leadership is embedded throughout the entirety of the project life-cycle using the Council’s Safety in Design process.
Ensure accurate reporting on assigned projects by reporting on expenditure against budget on a monthly basis including variances and cashflow profiling.
Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE :
Tertiary Project Management / Engineering / Science / Technology / Architectural / Building / Construction / Planning Qualification
Relevant project management accreditation
Proven track record in building strong stakeholder and team engagement
At least 5 years’ project management experience.
