Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This role leads Contact Energy’s Reconciliation team which manages the reporting and reconciliation of energy purchases, network line charges and meter lease costs with a combined value greater than $1 billion dollars annually (and also manages other non-regulated costs such as 3rd party meter lease and revenue streams).

The Reconciliation team are responsible for ensuring processes and systems are complete and robust, ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation of these purchases, as well as identifying, scoping and developing new opportunities, processes and tools to deliver ongoing business improvements.

This leadership position is an important and significant role in the business in terms of opportunities (& risks) given the scale of processes, financial transactions and the extent of the regulatory requirements included in its scope.

This role is wide and varied - here’s a few things you’ll get involved with :

  • Provide the leadership for all Contact’s energy settlement & reconciliation activities focused on ensuring :
  • Market leading accuracy in energy settlement, network & meter lease reconciliations
  • Full regulatory compliance for all settlement & reconciliation activities
  • Market leading optimisation of energy and network costs (lowest cost)
  • An engaged & high performing team
  • Constantly challenge the status quo and existing ways of working to improve the outcomes (efficiency, accuracy, timeliness) of all our energy settlement and reconciliation processes.
  • Ensuring effective operational procedures are in place for the collation and the provision of electricity (NHH & HHR) and gas data to the Reconciliation Manager, Pricing Manager, Gas Allocation Agent, Network Companies and Metering providers.
  • Reconciliation & verification of energy purchases, network line charges & meter lease invoices. Ensure these processes are continually controlled, monitored & optimised.

  • Maintain & foster strong relationships with key external parties related to energy settlement & reconciliation, including the respective industry forums, regulatory bodies and auditors, industry service providers, and relevant industry participants
  • Drive a team culture of innovation and constant improvement to identify and implement efficiency (productivity and accuracy) and value creation (reduce cost / increase revenues) opportunities, including through enhanced automation & big data.

    We’d be really interested in talking with people who have extensive knowledge of the electricity / energy industry (including regulatory requirements, technologies, processes and pricing arrangements for electricity and gas retailing, networks and metering) and a track record of driving change initiatives.
